I was interviewed by Dr. Hisla Bates on the Healer Heal Yourself podcast with particular emphasis on the role of ART and CREATIVITY in my professional and personal journey.
.
If you'd like to hear some of the thoughts and experiences I had along my VERY windy way, check it out!
.
There are anecdotes from my time in college, my time working as a ski instructor before medical school, my time "on sabbatical" from medicine while studying and teaching yoga, and more. I discuss starting two art therapy programs in college and medical school and creating a grant-funded expressive arts group for teens in Telluride, CO. There is also a bit of conversation about how I started studying holistic medicine as a way to help my own anxiety and stress-related physical struggles.
.
Dr. Bates and I both agree that medical schools really need to add more creative, art-focused activities to their curriculums. Some med schools have figured this out, but definitely there is much room to grow and raise awareness regarding the incredible healing value of art (and the fact that students often need to experience their own healing during the extremely stressful process of becoming a doctor).

The last 20 minutes of the episode has some wonderful insights and bits of wisdom that may help others who aren't happy with what they are doing or who are confused on or about their paths. My interest and use of astrology (including its function as a roadmap for the soul) is explored at the end of the talk as well.

If you check it out and want to leave some feedback, let me know your thoughts below (on this post), via email, or leave feedback for Dr. Bates on the podcast's page.
